The Charlestown Land Trust invites you to join them at Mill Pond Preserve for a fascinating fungi hunt with foraging experts Laura and Ken Orabone! Discover the hidden world of mushrooms and enjoy the beautiful Preserve! (Not intended for edible mushroom identification.)
This walk is part of Land Trust Days, a statewide celebration of land conservation hosted by the Rhode Island Land Trust Council. From August 10th to October 26th, land trusts across Rhode Island will host outdoor events that highlight some of the state’s most beautiful protected places.
Mill Pond is an 80 acre property owned and managed by the Charlestown Land Trust. Mill Pond is part of our town’s history with the remnants of a once thriving trout hatchery found on the property. There are trails set in woodland on the edge of the pond. The Charlestown Land Trust built the trail system on the property which was opened to the public on Earth Day, 2005. In recent years they have added a connecting trail to The Nature Conservancy Land that abuts to the north.
You can learn more about Mill Pond Preserve and Charlestown’s other open space properties at the CCA Guide to Charlestown Open Space.

Just a heads up for hikers, kayakers and folks in the woods. Archery bow season opened up Separately 15th, might be a good idea for bright colors. This walk in all likelihood will not be an issue, but bright colors would not be a bad idea.
