News Reports

Newspaper Stories, Press Releases and documents in the news are listed in reverse chronological order, so most recent news will be at the top of the page.

Good government requires an informed electorate. CCA urges everyone to become regular readers of the local newspapers.

We have picked up stories here that pertain to CCA's issues, but there is so much more to read and learn in your local newspapers.

Schoolhouse Pond

You may have noticed fewer news stories on our pages recently. The Providence Journal no longer publishes a local news section and now only rarely covers Charlestown. The Narragansett's proposed casino remains a story of statewide interest so we are hopeful that the Providence Journal will continue to cover that story at least. The Westerly Sun only allows CCA to link to their free stories and they have posted very few Charlestown stories lately. The Chariho Times only makes a limited section of their paper available online. Despite having fewer online news resources available to us, we remain committed to keeping you informed about Charlestown. If there is important news to report and we have no free stories to link to, we will issue our own press releases and post them here.
