Charlestown Town Council Meeting - April 20, 2009

Presentation by URI Landscape Architecture Students: Wind Farms

The students analyzed Narragansett Tribal land just north of Rt. 1 as a site for wind turbines and their presentation centered on wind energy in general and on this parcel in particular. Wind turbines have been proposed for a property on the north side of Rt. 1 near the study site. This property makes up most of the land between Kings Factory Rd. and Prosser Trail and abuts land owned by the Narragansett Tribe *.

* Please note that the students misidentified the Settlement Lands of the Narragansett Tribe as a "Reservation". These lands resulted from the out of court Settlement of a land claim brought by the Narragansett in 1975 and are usually referred to as Settlement Lands not an Indian Reservation.
