I was contacted by the major newspapers in the area informing me that an “individual” was questioning the veracity of my recent letter concerning my father. Although only one newspaper named Mageau as the source of the complaint, there was no doubt in my mind who was behind these despicable allegations and attempts to discredit me and stop publication of my letter. Apparently after having me investigated, Mageau had concluded that since I was born after the end of WWII, my father couldn't have possibly sacrificed his life for this country, as I had indicated in my letter.
How dare this man, who to my knowledge had never even seen a wartime battlefield, dishonor the memory of my father? For the record, my father died after I was born as a direct result of the significant injuries he sustained in combat and was awarded all rights and distinctions by the US Government as if he had died that day on the battlefield. Furthermore, I am convinced Mageau knew this explanation as it’s simply incredulous to me that he hasn’t combed through all the letters concerning him on the CCA website in the hopes of finding someone to sue, threaten, belittle or disparage. When he did, he would have surely come across the letter I submitted last Memorial Day in 2007 which provided this “unnecessary” clarification. A copy can be found on the CCA website using the following link: http://www.charlestowncitizens.org/letters/20070603_JL.html.
Not that we need any more examples, but Mageau’s actions are just further evidence of the kind of man that has been inadvertently elected to Town Council and the depths that this man would go to silence his critics. He is a complete disgrace and embarrassment to veterans and the people of Charlestown. Charlestown can no longer wait for Mageau and his enablers, like Donna Walsh, to be ousted from office next November. He needs to resign now.
