Veterans defended the freedoms that Mageau so blatantly mocks

As the daughter of a WWII veteran who lost his life defending the freedoms that Mageau so blatantly mocks, I am more appalled and disturbed that someone like Mageau is a representative for veterans in Charlestown than I am over the sale of American flags and balloons at the Memorial Day parade. These brave men and women deserve a person who respects and holds dear the liberties for which they fought, someone who doesn’t betray their honor, someone who is decent and trustworthy, someone who displays admirable leadership qualities, and someone for which they can be proud.

On this Memorial Day, as with all others, I will reflect on the sacrifices that so many have made for this remarkable country. So if you happen to see a balloon flying proudly over Charlestown this weekend, please think of my father and the countless other men and women who sacrificed their lives for your freedoms as well as their families who may have never completely recovered from the emotional toll that they too have endured.
