Mr. Mageau would benefit from an anger management course, or professional counseling

James Mageau's letter in the last issue of the Chariho Times is but the latest in a series of repetitive attacks upon me, other members of the Rhode Island Statewide Coalition, RISC itself, and countless citizens of Charlestown. Of course, we deny his misguided and venomous attacks, with the expectation that they will continue. The fact is that we have no desire to exchange views with Mr. Mageau or to be in his presence. Nevertheless, his baseless allegations must not be allowed to stand undenied, and we will continue to appear before the Charlestown Town Council when we consider it appropriate.

In a more serious vein, Mr. Mageau's phantom concerns, constant public accusations, and, in particular, his virulent cursing attacks on citizens in Town Council meetings are the actions of a troubled man, one who does not possess the ability to control his anger and discuss matters in a dignified, non-confrontational manner. While we want nothing to do with him, one's compassion for another human being who is so troubled and incapable of controlling his actions suggests that he might profit from an anger management course, or professional counseling of a more advanced nature. While we doubt that he will consider any suggestion we make, it remains our hope that he will at least consider that prospect before he embarks on an even more serious attack upon someone whose presence he finds incompatible with his desires.

Harry L. Staley, Chairman Rhode Island Statewide Coalition (RISC)
